Project Title: Glendale Centerline Project [New Arts District]

Location: Glendale, AZ

Project Goals: The semester focused on the restoration and revitalization of several areas for downtown Glendale. My contribution and final presentation focused around the sugar beet factory and comprised of a six step process that over time would repurpose the old sugar beet factory, spark new growth and give downtown Glendale new life. The project consisted of turning the factory into a museum of modern art and school, new affordable multi-family housing, an artist’s park, storefront galleries for artists and open market exhibitions. The concept for the arts district gained notoriety and was published in the Glendale Republic. Later we were asked to present our proposals to city officials, consisting of the vice mayor and other key elected council members on the planning and zoning board.
